“Prayer” draws inspiration from the ‘bratsch’, a 3-stringed instrument with a flat bridge (so that all 3 strings can be played at once) tuned in close intervals. The duo’s expressive, lilting lyricism is contrasted by the muted sonority of the violins and the fortissimo descent of the final section.
